Cost-effective solutions – by remote control

For the majority of businesses, few services are more important than a secure, reliable and high-tech ICT infrastructure.

Whether operating nationally or internationally, remote data backup remains vital and, increasingly, companies store their data offsite, where daily, secure backups are made.

A growing number of ‘business hubs’ provide a one-to-one service, tailoring choices of business support for tenants and ‘virtual’ tenants. By investing in a secure, reliable and high-tech IT environment, such hubs rent space to tenants who bring in their own server, allowing them to host internet services themselves in an accessible location.

Tenants and employees alike use Virtual Private Network (VPN) technology to connect with the hub’s ICT infrastructure using a secure, encrypted route; allowing them to work remotely, as if they are in the office.

With the introduction of mailbox availability on company websites, business users can check emails from anywhere there is access to the internet, which also means via mobile phones or PDAs. This is invaluable for people working across international time-zones or travelling around the country.

Alternatively, to make it easy, most hubs provide a ‘pay-as-you-go’ service whereby business users, using the provided ‘business hub’ servers, pay only for the hosted services and the amount of storage space they inhabit on the remotely-accessed server. So those who host many services and use the most storage space pay the most, and vice versa.

In this way, businesses work dynamically, increasing or decreasing the cost of their IT services to achieve affordability and simplicity – remotely.
